Indigenous Disability Awareness Month

November is Indigenous Disability Awareness Month. It is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and valuable contributions made by Indigenous persons with disabilities in Canada and bring awareness to the barriers Indigenous peoples living with disabilities face every day.

In June of this year, Canada released an Action Plan with guiding measures of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act ensuring the equality rights of Indigenous persons with disabilities are respected in the design and delivery of government programs, policies and services, including creating more inclusive workplaces.
