In May 2024, as a recent high school graduate, Sally Ann approached one of our site partners for employment support. Although she had valuable volunteer experience, this was her first venture into paid employment and Sally Ann was eager to pursue a career in the beauty industry.
Despite her enthusiasm, Sally Ann struggled to secure employment, with her applications often going unanswered. This posed a significant barrier to her goal of achieving paid employment. Through her participation in the Meticulon Assessment Service (MAS), it was identified that Sally Ann possessed strong teamwork and relationship building skills, which are essential for customer service and beauty roles. However, she needed guidance on improving her job application process and communication skills.
Our site partner provided Sally Ann with targeted support, including mock interviews to build confidence and improve interview techniques, resume development to effectively showcase her volunteer experience, and communication training to enhance her ability to convey her strengths to potential employers. In addition, the MAS software played a pivotal role, providing life skills training and job search strategies.
Sally Ann’s perseverance, coupled with comprehensive support, led to her successful employment at a local beauty business, where she excels and looks forward to a bright future. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of specialized employment services and tools like MAS.
